Privacy Policy

Effective date: 1 January 2026. Last reviewed: 1 January 2026.

This Privacy Policy explains how BADDERTHANBADDIES LLC collects, uses, stores and protects information when you visit this website, write to the studio, call the front bench or sit in a chair at the Layton workroom. The site and the studio are run by the developer BadderThanBaddies on behalf of the company, and the same care that goes into a clean parting line goes into handling personal information.

We believe a privacy notice should be readable by a person in a waiting chair, not only by a lawyer. This document is therefore written in plain sentences, grouped by topic, and each section answers one question. Where a term has a technical meaning we explain it in everyday English. If anything here remains unclear, you are welcome to contact us at the email address above and a member of the studio will explain it in a direct reply.

This policy applies to every visitor of the website, every person who sends an enquiry, every client with an appointment, and every supplier or partner who deals with the company. It does not apply to third party websites that we do not control, even when a link to such a site appears on our pages. We encourage you to read the privacy notices of any site you reach from here.

2. Scope of This Policy

This policy covers all information handled by BADDERTHANBADDIES LLC through this website and through the ordinary operation of the braid studio and styling suite. That includes enquiries sent by email, messages left by telephone or text, appointment records, styling notes, photographs taken with consent, and administrative records needed to run a small business.

The policy does not cover information that you share with other businesses, even when those businesses work alongside us. For example, a payment processor handles card data under its own privacy notice, and a delivery partner handles a shipping address under its own policies. We choose partners carefully and only share the minimum needed for the task, but we cannot make promises on behalf of a separate company.

Our website is intended for adults and for parents or guardians acting on behalf of children in their care. The site holds no account system, no login, and no public profile area, so the amount of personal information we collect through the web is deliberately small.

3. Information We Collect

We collect only what we need to answer a question, hold a chair, style hair safely, and keep the studio running. The categories below describe the information in ordinary terms.

Information you give us directly

  • Your name, email address and telephone number when you write or call.
  • The content of your message, including any details about the style you want, dates that suit you and images you choose to attach.
  • Appointment details such as the service booked, the time and date, and any preparation notes you provide.
  • Styling notes that help us repeat a result, such as hair length, density, texture, color history, sensitivities and the products used.
  • Information about a child when a parent or guardian books the kids styling chair, limited to what is needed to style the hair safely.
  • Payment information that you choose to provide, which is handled by a payment provider rather than stored on this website.

Information collected automatically

  • Standard server log entries such as the requested page, the time of the request, the browser type and the approximate region of the connection.
  • Technical data needed to deliver the site correctly, including the type of device and the screen size.
  • Aggregated visit statistics when measurement tools are enabled, always in a form that does not identify a single person.

Information we do not collect

We do not ask for government identification numbers, financial account numbers, medical records or precise location data, and this website does not request any of those items. If a message contains such details, we will remove it from our records once the enquiry is answered unless a legal duty requires us to retain it.

4. How We Collect Information

Most of the information we hold comes from you. You type it into a contact form, you send it in an email, you say it at the front bench, or you hand over a phone number so we can confirm an appointment. The contact form on this website does not transmit data to a server of ours. It prepares an email in your own mail application so that you can review the message and send it yourself. That design keeps the website simple and gives you control over what leaves your device.

A smaller amount of information comes from the running of the site itself. Web servers record requests so that faults can be found and abuse can be blocked. Those records are technical and are not joined to your name. If we enable a measurement tool, it will be described in the section on analytics below, and any tool that uses tracking cookies will only run where the law allows it and where a consent choice has been made.

We also collect information from people who refer you. A friend may tell us that you are coming, and a supplier may pass on a delivery note. In those cases we still confirm the essentials with you before an appointment is held.

5. Why We Use Information

We use personal information for a short list of practical purposes. Each purpose is tied to a reason you would expect when you contact a braid studio.

  • To answer enquiries and give accurate quotes for braids, presses, installs, kids styling, bridal glam and scalp care.
  • To hold, confirm, move or cancel appointments and to remind you of a booking.
  • To style hair safely, which includes noting sensitivities, previous chemical services and the tension a scalp can tolerate.
  • To keep a record of work completed so a repeat visit starts from a known place.
  • To take payment, issue a receipt and handle a refund where the terms allow one.
  • To maintain the website, diagnose errors and protect the studio from spam and fraudulent requests.
  • To meet legal, tax and accounting duties that apply to a registered business.
  • To improve the services we offer, using aggregated feedback rather than personal profiles.

We do not sell personal information, we do not rent a mailing list, and we do not trade client details with other salons or brands. If we ever wished to use information for a purpose outside this list, we would first explain the purpose and ask for your agreement where the law requires it.

6. Legal Bases for Processing

Where data protection law applies to our work, we rely on a defined legal basis for each use. These bases are described here in plain language so that you can see why a particular use is permitted.

Performance of an agreement

When you book a service, we need your name, contact details and service details to deliver that service. Without this information we cannot hold a chair or confirm a time. The same basis applies to billing and to any follow up that is part of the service you purchased.

Legitimate interests

We have a legitimate interest in running a safe and solvent business. This covers keeping basic records, protecting the website from misuse, improving our service quality and responding to complaints. We balance that interest against your rights and will stop a use if the balance tips against you.

Consent

We rely on consent for optional things, such as using a photograph in the portfolio or sending a seasonal message that you have asked to receive. You can withdraw consent at any time, and withdrawal does not affect work already completed on that basis.

Legal obligation

Some records must be kept because tax, consumer protection or health and safety rules require it. When a legal duty applies, we retain the record for the period the law sets and restrict access to those who need it.

7. Appointment and Styling Records

A braid studio works better when it remembers the details. Our appointment records note the style performed, the size of braid, the parting pattern, the products used and any instruction about tension or sensitivity. These notes help us reproduce a result and avoid repeating a problem.

Styling notes are kept separate from any public material and are visible only to the stylist working with you and to the person who maintains the booking system. We do not record medical diagnoses. If you mention a scalp condition, we may note that a product should be avoided and, where appropriate, that you were referred to a doctor. That note is treated as sensitive and is stored with extra care.

You may ask to see the styling notes that relate to you, and you may ask us to correct an error. If you ask us to delete a note that is needed for safety, such as an allergy, we will explain the risk before acting so that you can make an informed choice.

8. Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser. This website is built to work without advertising cookies and without a network of third party trackers. The pages you are reading now do not create an account, do not place items in a cart and do not require a login, so they need very little in the way of stored data.

Strictly necessary storage

A small amount of local storage may be used to remember a preference, such as a dismissed notice. This storage does not identify you and is deleted when it is no longer needed.

Optional measurement

If we enable a measurement tool, we choose settings that reduce the data collected, such as turning off advertising features and limiting retention. Where a consent choice is required by law, the tool will not run until you make that choice, and you can change it later.

Managing cookies in your browser

Every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking strictly necessary storage may affect how a page behaves, but the main content of this site will still load. Instructions are available in the help section of your browser.

9. Analytics and Server Logs

We look at aggregate numbers to understand which pages help visitors and which pages cause confusion. Aggregate numbers tell us how many people opened the services page, not who they were. We do not build individual profiles and we do not attempt to connect a visit to a named client.

Server logs record the fact that a page was requested. These logs help us spot a broken link, a slow response or a burst of automated traffic. Log entries are kept for a short period, usually no more than thirty days, and are then rotated out. Access to logs is limited to the people who maintain the website.

If you write to us through your own mail application, the message travels through your email provider and ours. Those providers may keep their own delivery records under their own policies. We keep the content of the conversation only as long as needed to answer it and to support any follow up appointment.

10. When We Share Information

We share personal information only when there is a clear reason and only to the extent needed. The situations below describe the usual cases.

  • With a payment provider to take a deposit or settle a bill.
  • With a booking or messaging provider that helps us confirm appointment times.
  • With a professional adviser such as an accountant, where records are needed for tax or legal compliance.
  • With a supplier when a special order, such as a particular braid texture, requires a delivery to the studio.
  • With a photographer or editor when you have agreed that an image may be used in the portfolio.
  • With a public authority when the law requires disclosure or when a valid legal request is presented.
  • With a successor business in the unlikely event that the company is sold or restructured, subject to the same protections described here.

We do not share information for another company to use in its own marketing. We do not sell a list of clients. If a partner needs access to a record, that partner is bound by a contract that limits use to the stated purpose and requires appropriate security.

11. Service Providers

A small studio relies on a small set of carefully chosen providers. These include the company that hosts this website, the provider that carries email, the booking tool that holds appointment times and the payment service that processes a deposit. Each provider receives only the information required to perform its function.

Before working with a provider, we review its privacy terms and its security posture. We prefer providers that store data in the United States, that offer encryption in transit, and that give a clear account of how data is handled. Where a provider processes information on our behalf, a written agreement sets out the scope of the work and the obligation to protect the data.

We review these relationships from time to time. If a provider no longer meets our standard, we move the relevant records to a new service and delete them from the old one where the contract allows.

12. Payments and Billing

Card details are entered into the payment service, not into this website. We do not store a full card number on a studio device and we do not keep a card security code under any circumstances. The payment service returns a confirmation and a partial number so that a refund can be matched to a booking.

Receipts and invoices record a name, a service, a date and an amount. Those records are retained for the period required by tax law. If you pay in the studio by another method, we note the method and the amount but not the sensitive details of the instrument used.

Deposits and refunds follow the policy described in the Terms of Service. A request about a charge should come to contact@badderthanbaddies.buzz with the date of the appointment and the amount, and we will trace it with the payment provider.

13. Messages, Email and Calls

When you send a message, we use the contact details in that message to reply. We do not add those details to a marketing list unless you ask to be added. Reminders about a booked appointment are part of the service and are not marketing.

Email and text messages are convenient but not perfectly secure. Please do not send a card number, a password or a copy of an identity document by email. If we need a sensitive document, we will explain a safer route.

Telephone calls to the front bench may be noted in the appointment record so that the studio can confirm what was agreed. We do not record calls for training without telling you first, and we will stop a recording if you ask.

14. How Long We Keep Information

We keep information only while there is a reason to keep it. The periods below are guides rather than absolute rules, because a tax audit or a legal dispute can require a longer hold.

  • Enquiries that do not lead to an appointment are removed within twelve months.
  • Appointment and styling records are kept for up to three years after the last visit so that a repeat service has useful context.
  • Billing and tax records are kept for the period required by law, generally seven years.
  • Photographs used in the portfolio are kept until consent is withdrawn, after which they are removed from active use within a reasonable period.
  • Server logs are kept for a short operational window, usually thirty days or less.

When a retention period ends, records are deleted or destroyed in a way that prevents recovery. If a record must be kept for a legal reason, access is restricted and the record is not used for any other purpose.

15. How We Protect Information

We treat personal information as a professional responsibility. The website is served over an encrypted connection, booking records sit behind a password protected account with two factor verification, and studio devices are locked when not in use. Paper notes are kept in a locked drawer and are cleared out on a regular schedule.

Access is limited to the people who need it to do their work. A stylist sees the styling notes for a client in the chair. An administrator sees billing records. Nobody sees more than the role requires.

No system is perfect, and no responsible business claims otherwise. If a security incident affects your information, we will investigate promptly, take steps to contain the harm and notify the people affected and the relevant authority where the law requires. If you believe you have found a weakness in this website, please write to contact@badderthanbaddies.buzz so that we can look at it.

16. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct an error, to delete a record, to restrict a use, to object to a use, or to receive your information in a portable format. You may also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising a privacy right.

To make a request, write to contact@badderthanbaddies.buzz with the subject Privacy Request and describe what you would like us to do. We will confirm receipt, ask for enough information to verify that the request relates to you, and respond within the period set by applicable law. Verification is important: we will not release a styling record to someone who cannot show that they are the client or an authorized guardian.

There is normally no charge for a request. If a request is clearly unfounded or repetitive, the law may allow us to decline it or to charge a reasonable fee, and we would explain the reason in writing. If you are unhappy with our response, you may contact the consumer protection or data protection authority in your region. We would appreciate the chance to resolve the matter directly first.

You may also ask us to stop sending a reminder message or a seasonal note. Appointment reminders are part of the service, but we can use a different channel if one is available.

17. Privacy for Children

Children visit the studio for styling in the kids chair, and their information deserves special care. We collect only the details needed to provide the service: a first name for the chair, an age band if it affects the style, the parent or guardian contact details, and any sensitivity that affects the products used. We do not create a marketing profile for a child and we do not send a child a message directly.

Appointments for a child are made by a parent or guardian, who gives consent for the service and for any photograph that might be taken. That consent can be withdrawn at any time by the same adult. When a child reaches the age at which local law grants independent privacy rights, we will deal with that young person directly on request.

This website is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from a child without adult involvement. If you believe a child has sent personal information through the site without a guardian, contact us and we will remove it promptly.

18. Photographs and Portfolio Use

Photographs help a studio show its work, and we only use an image when the person in it has given clear permission. Permission is recorded in writing and covers the specific use, such as the portfolio page or a social profile, rather than an open ended claim on every future use.

If you agree to a photograph, we may retouch the image for lighting and color balance but we will not alter the style in a way that misrepresents the work. We will not attach your full name to an image without a separate agreement. Permission can be withdrawn at any time, and we will remove the image from active use within a reasonable period after the request.

Images taken by a client at the studio remain the property of the client. We may ask whether we can share such an image and will wait for an answer before doing so.

19. International Visitors

The studio operates in the United States, and the records we keep are stored in the United States. If you visit this website or write to us from another country, you understand that your information will be handled under United States law and the protections described in this policy.

Where a provider stores data outside the United States, we select providers that offer appropriate safeguards and we limit the data sent to them to what is necessary. If you would like more detail about the location of a particular record, write to us and we will explain what we can.

20. Third Party Links

This website may link to a booking service, a map, a social profile or a supplier. Those destinations are run by other companies. We check that a link is useful before adding it, but we do not control the privacy practices of the destination and we are not responsible for the content of another site.

When you leave this site, the privacy notice of the destination applies. We encourage you to read it before entering personal information. If you find a link on our pages that leads to an unexpected or unsafe destination, please tell us so that we can review it.

21. Changes to This Policy

We review this policy at least once a year and whenever we change a tool, a provider or a service in a way that affects personal information. The effective date at the top of the page shows when the current version took effect.

If a change is significant, we will post a clear notice on the homepage and, where we hold a current email address for you, send a short message describing the change. A minor edit, such as a corrected email address, will be made without a separate notice but will still be reflected in the effective date.

Your continued use of the website or the studio after a change takes effect means that the updated policy applies. If you do not agree with an update, you may contact us to discuss your options, including the deletion of records that are not required by law.

22. How to Contact Us

Questions, requests and concerns about privacy should come to the studio in writing so that there is a clear record. We read every message and reply in the order received.
